Najafi: ICJ needs to issue an opinion on the violation of Palestinians right to self-determinat
Day 4 ICJ Hearing Sessions
Reza Najafi, Iran Deputy Foreign Minister for legal and international Affairs, in an interview with @AlMayadeenNews with AlMayadeen: " I think the world is currently watching this Court, given the appalling situation in Gaza, where this occupying regime is killing women and children on a daily basis. Indeed, this Court needs to consider the case as an urgent matter and issue an opinion on the violation by Israel of Palestinians' right to self-determination. It has been more than 75 years that the policy has been waiting for self-determination to be secured, with the capital of Al Quds. So, I guess nobody can request this court not to issue any advisory opinion. There are legal grounds we elaborated on today in the court, grounds that need to be considered by the court. And we hope that this Court issues its advisory opinion on the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and paves the ground for justice to prevail. The people who are watching, the Muslim people, and the Palestinians under the terrifying attacks, to see that there is hope for justice to be achieved. How do you see what is happening now in Gaza? Well, this kind of mass killing is a destruction, brutality, a barbaric action by the Israeli military. We believe that the world should not only watch the situation but should also act. First and foremost, the Security Council should make a decision with the SEC today, not just having meetings and issuing futile resolutions. To have a very decisive resolution under chapter seven, obliging honestly to cut every kind of assistance to the Israeli military, thus stopping this killing, military action in Gaza.
